Thank you for considering Havelock North Intermediate as the school of choice for your child’s educational experience. 

Havelock North Intermediate is in the green and lovely township of Havelock North. The school has approximately 540 students and caters specifically for students who are 11-13 years old.  Our school has excellent teaching programmes and high-quality facilities.  We will focus on your child’s academic learning and care about their complete well-being in a safe and happy environment.

Our school offers:

  • classes that are well-resourced for information technology and instruction  that is delivered through modern blended learning practices
  • four specialist rooms including an extensively equipped workshop, dedicated science facility, electronics room, and food tech room.
  • a place where Performance Arts are promoted and valued: music, choir, dance, drama and orchestra
  • a place where students' cultural background and life experience is valued and celebrated

Beyond Honours

The Beyond Honours award is our very highest award.  Students who have received their Honours award in the first 5 weeks as a Year 8 student are eligible to apply to take part in the Beyond Honours programme. The programme offers our outstanding students the opportunity for leadership, community service, personal development and growth.  Students have the support of both a school and a community mentor. Applicants must then present their project to the Beyond Honours Panel.

Honours Award

The Honours Badge is a highly prized award. 

Students who have received Gold Awards in at least 4 different areas:

  • Academic
  • Technology
  • Cultural
  • Sport
  • Service

- ​​​​​​​and have been awarded Stars in at least 2 different areas are eligible to apply for an Honours Badge.  Applicants must then put their case to the Principal during an interview.

The cut-off date for receiving Gold Awards & Stars is Monday Week 6 Term 4 by 3pm, no exceptions.

Ka Pai & Gold Awards

Ka Pai Awards 

Ka Pai Awards are presented to students by their various teachers on a daily basis and recognise the schools' values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy  The awards also recognise a positive attitude to class and school with such things as:

  • Work ethic
  • Good behaviour in classroom/ playground
  • Helping and assisting others
  • Manners and courtesy
  • An effort to achieve one’s best

The Gold Awards & Stars recognises excellence in the Academic, Cultural, Technology, Sporting and Service fields.The cut-off date for receiving Gold Awards & Stars is Week 7 Term 4, no exceptions.
