The Arts
Learning in The Arts stimulates imagination, creativity, thinking, and an understanding of diverse art forms from both within our community and beyond. It encourages a life-long interest in the arts. The four arts disciplines - dance, drama, music, and the visual arts - provide our students with opportunites to develop and express ideas through the making and presenting of artworks. They enable our students to become critically aware of, and respond to, their own and other's work.At Havelock North Intermediate students are provided with opportunities to develop the skills, literacies, knowledge, attitudes and understandings as outlined above.
Performances and ExchangesEach year we have either an Evening of the Arts or a School Production when student from the different cultural gourps are able to perform. These are major events requiring weeks of practise and are usually staged over 3 or 4 nights.
A Cultural Exchange is held with Masterton Intermediate School each year. During even years we travel to Masterton to perform and during odd years they come to us. Approximately 130 students take part in a range of cultural activities including Choir, Drama, Orchestra, Kapa Haka, Symphonic Band and Orchestra. |
