Student Learning Centre

Our Student Centre enables children to develop in curriculum and personal/social areas where understanding and confidence is limited.

Year 7 and 8 children with identified needs in literacy and numeracy, are
taught by the school’s SENCO (Special Needs Coordinator) with Teacher Aide assistance.

In the centre, students experience a sense of belonging, have fun and feel supported by having their individual needs met.

Testimonials from current students attending our Student Centre:
“I love coming because we have fun. We learn quite a lot and it’s not scary if you don’t get things right.” (Year 8 )

“It’s a great place to go for people who are having difficulties. The teacher gives us time to think and she doesn’t growl at us for taking time. It’s fun. We have a lot of laughs. We also learn a lot.” (Year 7)

Other children are supported out in their classrooms by a group of very dedicated and capable Teacher Aides. This year we have 4 full time teacher aides and 2 with flexible hours.

Our Student Centre is a nurturing, learning environment that encourages our students to learn and be proud of their successes.
