Student Leaders

Year 7 Councillors

The Year 7 Council is an important group in our school who meet to present constructive ideas/suggestions from their class. Mr Kinsey is overseeing and guiding the work of the Year 7 Council. Each Year 7 class is represented.
Duties include:

• With the Deputy Principals visit the Contributing Primary Schools
• Help the House Captains with the House Assemblies
• Attend the Open Evening
• Greet and thank visitors in the school
• Duties allocated by the Class Teacher e.g. lining up the class, superciiosn
• Masterton Exchange Host/Hostess
• Support Inter-House competitions
• Be positive role models to students around the school
• Model HNI expectations e.g. behaviour, uniform, attitude, application, fairplay

Forum Members

The School Forum is the student voice of the school. It comprises of Year 8 students. They meet fortnightly to discuss matters raised by the students of the school and brought to the Forum by the representative from their class. All Year 8 classes are represented on the School Forum. This is an important leadership role within our school and an opportunity for students with leadership potential to further their skills. Mr Ellis is working with the School Forum.

Sports Captains

Our Sports Captains are an important group in our school.  Their role includes; leading sports groups during whole school competitions, helping with the organisation for class lunchtime sport, refereeing lunchtime sport when required, supporting the teacher during PE and with organised House sport afternoons. Each class is represented.
Duties include:

• Lead sports groups during whole school competitions e.g. athletics, cross country
• Help with organisation for class lunchtime sport
• Referee luncthime sport when needed
• Support teacher during PE e.g. organisation, equipment
• Support teacher with organisaed House Sport afternoons

House Captains

Each House has four House Captains (Year 8 students – 2 girls and 2 boys).  House Captains are appointed by the House teachers and assist them in the organisation of all Inter-House activities as well as playing a leadership role within each House.
Duties include:

• Represent the school in a variety of roles e.g. funerals, meetings
• Attend the Open Evening
• Run Thursday Assemblies with the Deputy Principal
• Run House Assemblies with the Team Leader
• Greet and thank visitors in the school
• Attend Forum meeitngs with the Princpal
• Assist teachers with lunch eating duty
• Masterton Exchange Host/Hostess
• Support Inter-House competitions
• Be positive role models to students around the school
• Model HNI expectations e.g.e behaviour, uniform, attitude, application, fairplay
