Special Programmes

Havelock North Intermediate has a number of special programmes to help students to develop as a well-rounded person.

Skills for Adolescence
You will enjoy Skills for Adolescence which is a programme especially designed for children their age. The teachers have been specially trained to teach this programme which focuses on:
- Building self-confidence and communication skills;
- Managing emotions in positive ways;
- Improving peer relations (how you get on with your classmates);
- Avoiding harmful drug use;
- Setting goals for healthy living.

Peer Mediation
Peer Mediation is another programme that teaches important skills students will use for the rest of their lives. Each year we select 2 students from each class to train as mediators at a special training camp. Throughout the year the mediators help other students resolve their disputes.

All students are taught the mediation process.

TV 5
TV5 is our own in-school television channel. Students will have the opportunity to work in front of or behind the camera preparing video programmes which are broadcast live throughout the school three mornings a week.
