School Camps/Trips
Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) is an important component of the school Physical education and Health programme. All students have the opportunity to take part in a Class Camp/Trip during their two years at Intermediate. This provides students with a challenge in an outdoor environment aimed at developing physical and social skills as well as academic ones. Camps/Trips take place in March.
Participate in an Outdoor Pursuits Week which emphasises team building and initiative. The Outdoor Pursuits Week includes up to 4 nights stay either at school or an approved local camp.
Essential skills taught during the week include - Environmental Code - Firelighting Skills - Clothing and Equipment - Compass Points/Compass Skills - Tramping Safety and Survival Skills - First Aid Skills
Either camp in tents at approved venues for at up to 4 nights putting into practice skills focused on in Year 7.
OR
Participate in a class trip to another district. Class trip of this nature usually have a Social Studies/Environmental Studies emphasis.
