General Information

Intermediate School occupies an important place in your childs education. At Havelock North Intermediate we aim to meet the unique needs of children emerging into adolescence. This is a time of change and challenges for many young people. To this end we aim to bring out the very best in every child; to recognise each young persons strengths and focus on developing skills that will prepare them for high school, for life.

At Havelock North Intermediate School we build upon the work of the Contributing School in advancing your childs literacy and numeracy skills to enhance his/her intellectual development.

The pre-adolescent years are years of great physical, intellectual and social development. Although academic progress is our main focus we also place emphasis on cultural, physical and social skills by providing the opportunity forstudents to sample a wide range of sports, cultural and technological activities. Often these new activities become life-long pursuits and provide profitable and enjoyable leisure time activities - so very essential for young people growing up in the new millennium. We ask that you encourage your sons and daughters to make the most of their years at Havelock North Intermediate and take a full part in the life of their school.
