Awards
Gold Awards We have five Gold Awards which recognise excellence in:
- Academic endeavours, - Technology, - Cultural pursuits, - Sport, and - Service to the school and fellow students.
How can you earn a Gold Award? In striving for excellence in any of these areas the student will gain points towards a Gold for that area.
For each area there is a Record Card which specifies the number of points that will be awarded for certain achievements.
When the student believes he/she has met the requirements to earn points towards a Gold the card is presented to the teacher in charge of the particular area (eg Mrs McHattie for Orchestra) who will complete and sign the record.
Once 20 points have been earned in an area the Record Card is presented to Mr Fullwood who will verify it and the student will be awarded a Gold for that area at assembly.
Should a child earn another 20 points within the same area he/she will be awarded a Star.
Points earned on the Wild Card may be added to any other area (eg Service) to help students gain 20 points towards a Gold.
NB: Each of the activities for which points can be earned has a Weighting Level which gives recognition to those activities which require a long-term commitment. The awarding Weighting Level points is dependent on:- Attitude- Behaviour- Commitment and Attendance and - Fairplay in the case of Sport.
Honours Badge The Honours Badge is our highest award.
Students who have received Gold Awards in at least 4 different areas Academic, Technology, Cultural, Sport and Service and have been awarded Stars in at least 2 different areas are eligible to apply for an Honours Badge. Applicants must then apply in writing and put their case to the Principal during an interview.
Students will be able to earn Awesome Awards if they meet our classroom and playground expectations and keep their behaviour, attitude and work to a high standard.
Awesome Awards When students receive an Awesome Award a duplicate copy of it is put into a barrel and each week at assembly 10 names are drawn from the barrel. These 10 lucky people receive a Principals Award and a Canteen Voucher.
At the end of each term we have a Super Awesome Award Draw. A duplicate of every Awesome Award given out during the term is placed in the barrel and 30-40 are draw out to win prizes like Movie Passes.
We also publish the names of the top Awesome Awards receivers for each class in the last newsletter for each term. |
